Odd 80 business ideas from 26 countries were screened in December 2017 by an experts jury. 20 outstanding ideas made the cut to prove in Stuttgart February 2018 why they are the go-to guys for a greener future.

Benjamin Adrion, Viva con Agua
Benjamin Adrion is a professional in organizational development, holds a degree in international management and is founder of Viva con Agua (VcA).
This international network consists of more than 9.500 volunteers within the German non-profit organization, the incorporated social businesses Viva con Agua Wasser GmbH and Goldeimer Komposttoiletten (a firm that produces compost toilets), as well as non-profit branches in Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The Viva con Agua Foundation finally aims at intercultural exchange and education.
VcA's objective is to provide clean water to everyone in the world due to development projects, intercultural exchange and awareness raising.
Adrion was awarded the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2009 in recognition for his accomplishments with Viva con Agua.
Adrion looks back on a successful career as professional football player. He found his passion at VfB Neckarrens and continued on to play for SpVgg Unterhaching, VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Braunschweig and finally FC St. Pauli. He ended his professional football career to dedicate himself entirely to his vision of a world without thirst.
In 2005 he gathered a group of friends and founded Viva con Agua. It has become the first organization seeking societal change that embraces the all-profit principle: all activities of the organization benefit all participants, stakeholders and the beneficiaries. So far, the living conditions of more than 2.000.000 people worldwide have been improved thanks to Viva con Agua’s activities.
Shuen Chan, Sustineri
Shuen has 25 years of experience in building new business ventures in the financial markets across Asia and Europe. Her career has spanned asset management, capital markets and impact investing, with a particular focus on responsible investing and sustainability. Shuen is co-founder and managing partner of an advisory boutique, Sustineri, which works closely with institutions to prepare them for the low carbon transition and for sustainable development.
Prior to this, Shuen helped to establish a new impact investment venture, which focuses on achieving climate change mitigation goals at scale through the protection and restoration of natural forests. Previously, Shuen was a core team member who built one of the fastest growing private asset management firms in Europe, ECM Asset Management, which became one of the leading European fixed income asset managers with up to €20 billion of institutional clients’ assets. As Head of Structured Product Origination, Shuen led the establishment of the structuring business and was responsible for raising €3.7 billion in Assets under Management. She was subsequently involved in its sale to Wells Fargo. Shuen started her career in Debt Capital Markets at Deutsche Bank and also worked for Macquarie and HSBC based in Asia.
Shuen is a member of the Impact Investing Advisory Committee at Oxford University Saïd Business School, where she has been a guest tutor on climate change at their Executive Programme on Impact Investing. She is a board member and Treasurer of the Stanford Women’s Network in the UK and also serves on the Development Board of Ashden, a charitable organisation that runs the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy. Shuen is also an angel investor and advisor to ventures that are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Shuen holds an MBA from Imperial College, University of London and a Bachelors degree in Economics from Adelaide University, Australia. She has completed an executive programme at the London School of Economics on the Governance and Economics of Climate Change.
